SEPTEMBER 2018 GATHER BIBLE STUDY

October 31 @ 11:30 a.m.

Turn, turn, turn: A time for faithful repentance.

Repentance is one of the most powerful acts of a person or a church, making possible not only forgiveness but also reconciliation. This three-part Bible study by Meghan Johnston Aelabouni will explore how we as Lutheran Christians understand the role of repentance in our faith, especially as we understand God’s grace to be unearned and freely given.

The Rev. Meghan Johnston Aelabouni is a graduate of California Lutheran University and the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. Ordained in 2007, Meghan has served congregations in Illinois and Colorado. She is currently a full time Ph.D. student and mom to three.
Wednesday, September 26, you are invited to bring a Brown Bag lunch and join group leader, Janet Kemp, for the Bible Study in the Fireside Room. You may find a copy of the Bible Study material on the information table by the elevator in the narthex of the church. All are welcome!

Discipleship

Encourage-Oneanother

Christianity without discipleship is always Christianity without Christ.

Just as love of God begins with listening to his word, so the beginning of love for our brothers and sisters is learning to listen to them.
―  (Dietrich Bonhoeffer: Life Together)

We Are Becoming

This life is not devoutness, but becoming devout;

not health, but becoming healthy;
not being, but becoming, and
not resting, but doing.

We are not yet what we should be, but we are becoming what we should be.

Martin Luther, Meditation on Philippians 3:13
